AceShowbiz - Travis Kelce reveals how he and Taylor Swift deal with intense publicity about their romance. Having gained interest both on and off the field since dating the pop superstar, the NFL star says that he and his girlfriend have had discussion about managing privacy.
On a press conference on Friday, January 26, the Kansas City Chiefs player responded to a question about his rising fame and the scrutiny regarding his romance with the Grammy winner. The 34-year-old said that he and his bae decided to shut out the "outside noise" and focus on what "matters," which is their happiness.
"The only thing we've talked about is as long as we're happy, we can't listen to anything that's outside noise," so the tight end responded to the question. He added. "That's all that matters."
Travis went on admitting he'd "be silly" not to acknowledge the increased attention on him over the last year. "I think the Super Bowl helped that, and obviously how I live my off-field life, definitely helps out," he said, referring to the 2023 "Kelce Bowl" showdown between his team and his brother Jason Kelce's Philadelphia Eagles.
"I brought this upon myself, and I do enjoy having fun with it all, and the biggest thing is making sure my focus is right here in this building," the Ohio native stated, before confessing that it's challenging "dealing with everyone else's perspective of things" as he gets criticism for having a very public romance during a busy NFL season.
"You hear the media throughout the year if we're not having success, you know, maybe throw it out there that I wasn't focused or that the team isn't focused on certain things, and if you're in this building, you know exactly what's going on," he elaborated. "So, you gotta compartmentalize what you're hearing and make sure that you're staying on task, and giving everybody in the building and on that team the right perception."
Travis and Taylor went public with their relationship in September 2023 when she attended her first Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium, but the singer/songwriter later revealed that they started seeing each other weeks prior to that.
