Shortly after making controversial remarks during his band's recent show in New York City, the frontman of The 1975 is bombarded with criticisms via social media.

AceShowbiz - Matty Healy has found himself in hot water following his controversial remarks. Shortly after deeming Kanye West one of his "heroes" during a recent show, The 1975 frontman faced backlash from social media users.

On Thursday, November 16, the 34-year-old singer was bombarded with criticisms for calling Kanye his hero and complaining about his band not being nominated for a Grammy. In the comments section of an Instagram post featuring a video from the gig, one Instagram user criticized, "He's so salty he couldn't be with Taylor, so now he's being ridiculous." The user was referring to Taylor Swift, who briefly dated Matty in the summer.

Another chimed in, "Cringe behavior, especially in New York where there's the second highest population of Jewish people in the world. Yikes… he's so embarrassing." A third stated, "I mean maybe he doesn't want this life anymore, cause he seems like he wants to kill his career."

In the meantime, a fourth penned, "Oh dear... I know of 1975...only because of his antics, but couldn't name a song they sang.. Even when I Google I've never heard of their songs.. So no matty healy, mediocrity doesn't deserve a grammy," adding a slew of smiling faces with tears of joy emojis.

Matty made the controversial remarks during his band's concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Wednesday evening, November 15. In a video from the gig released via TikTok, he could be heard telling the audience, "The fact that we didn't get nominated for a Grammy is a f**king outrage. The reason people don't say that is because it's not a very tasteful thing to say."

The son of actress Denise Welch further asked, "But I am way past tasteful. Are they mental?" He went on to claim that his band's albums "I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It" and "A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships" as well as their song "About You" deserve a Grammy. "I mean, I don't really care that much but it just winds me up," he continued.

Matty additionally declared, "I'm not being self-celebratory, but Kanye is one of my heroes. You know what? You've got to f**king believe in yourself." After being booed by the audience, he stated, "I believe that's an awkward hero to have right now, I understand that. But separate the anti-Semitism. Just think about the self belief," before bursting into laughter.
