AceShowbiz - Matthew Perry went on a secret date with Cameron Diaz years ago, but it went awry. Sharing his memory of their awkward date, the actor reveals in his upcoming memoir "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing" that the actress punched him in the face.
According to the Chandler Bing of "Friends" (via Page Six), he and Cameron were set up shortly after her 2007 split from Justin Timberlake. The 53-year-old writes in his book that the "Vanilla Sky" star was "immediately stoned" when arriving to their date, which was a group dinner, and she "wasn't interested in [him] at all."
Matthew adds that he said "something witty" during a game of Pictionary, when Cameron "accidentally" hit his face while aiming for his shoulder. "Are you f**king kidding me?" he recalls his reaction to the actress.
Matthew mostly touches on his longtime struggles with addiction in his memoir, which is slated to hit the shelves on November 1. He, however, also spills on his dating life, including the time he kissed Valerie Bertinelli in 1990 while her husband Eddie Van Halen was sleeping nearby.
The "Fools Rush In" star additionally details why he split from Julia Roberts in the 1990s. "Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me. I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me," he claims in an excerpt published by the Times U.K. on Sunday, October 23.
"Why would she not? I was not enough; I could never be enough; I was broken, bent, unlovable," he continues, admitting that he felt insecure. "So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her, I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts."
He added of his famous ex-girlfriend, "She might have considered herself slumming it with a TV guy, and TV guy was now breaking up with her. I can't begin to describe the look of confusion on her face."
