The young royals take important role during the service, walking alongside their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, in the procession behind the Queen's coffin at Westminster Abbey.

AceShowbiz - Prince George and Princess Charlotte took the spotlight during the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth. The young royals joined their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, at the service at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19.

While Prince William escorted the coffin from Westminster Hall, Kate Middleton arrived together with two of her children, who wore different colors for the occasion. While the seven-year-old prince opted for a smart navy suit, his sister looked smart in a black outfit.

While most mourners wore black like Charlotte, George's outfit is also believed to symbolize grievance. Funeral etiquette states that wearing dark colors to a funeral, including navy, is considered a sign of respect for the deceased.

The two eldest children of the Prince and Princess of Wales walked in the procession behind the late monarch's coffin as it made its way into Westminster Abbey. In a last-minute change, the siblings walked side-by-side in between their parents. The pair were scheduled to follow behind Prince William and Princess Kate, ahead of their uncle and aunt, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte continued to follow the procession as the Queen's coffin made a stop at Wellington Arch. Standing in between their parents in the front row, the young royals were seen having a little chat while Her Majesty's coffin was transferred from a carriage to the State Hearse.

The Queen's coffin later heads to Windsor for a committal service at St. George's Chapel. It's a smaller event, with around 800 guests expected to join. Later in the evening, the Queen will be buried in a private family service.
