'Looking back on that, I really feel the stress of it... I could cry talking about it,' the actress opens up.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Garner has hinted that tabloid scrutiny wrecked her marriage to Ben Affleck.

In a candid new CBS Sunday Morning interview, which airs this weekend, July 15, the actress opens up about life in the spotlight, admitting the media's interest in her and her family can be overwhelming at times.

"(There were) five or six cars, sometimes as many as 15 to 20 on weekends (outside our house)," she explains.

"Looking back on that, I really feel the stress of it... I could cry talking about it.

"What I think I've learned is that the scrutiny in your private life puts a pressure to make something happen. You feel a pressure to hurry up and get married, 'cause you think that'll end the 'Are they engaged? Are they not?'

"And that's true in the reverse, as well - if there is any inkling of trouble, or if the tabloids decide there's trouble, it can create trouble.

"Everyone says, 'Oh, you've had to go through this (divorce) in public'. The public isn't what's hard. What's hard is going through it."

Garner and Affleck announced their split in June, 2015. The stars, who share three kids, are still good friends following the breakup.

In 2013, she joined Halle Berry in a bid to tighten laws preventing the paparazzi from terrorizing celebrity kids.

The two actresses testified before a panel of California legislators, pleading with them to crack down on the paparazzi for the sake of their children.

"I chose a public life and understand that this means sacrifices in terms of privacy for our jobs," Garner told the Assembly Judiciary Committee. "However my three children are private citizens and more than that - at one, four and seven-years-old - they're just little kids."

The actress fought back tears as she opened up about the psychological toll on her and husband Ben Affleck's children, who were often followed to school, ballet class, and the grocery store.

Jennifer and Halle were successful in their bid and a new bill modifying the definition of harassment and the actions of the paparazzi around minors was passed.
