The actor is recovering after he was thrown off his bike in an accident on the Italian island of Sardinia on Tuesday, July 10, and now surveillance video of the crash has been obtained by editors at newspaper Corriere della Sera.

In his latest starring role, the Oscar winner fails to avoid a blue Mercedes which veers into oncoming traffic near Olbia, and flies over the front of his bike, landing in the road as the car driver and bystanders rush to help.

Clooney was taken to the John Paul II hospital in Olbia, where he was treated and released hours later.

Local reports suggest the 57-year-old movie star was heading to work when the accident happened near the entrance to the Costa Corallina residential compound in Olbia. He is in Sardinia filming a television mini-series adaptation of Joseph Heller's novel Catch-22.
