Teen Choice Awards 2018: 'Black Panther' and 'Riverdale' Pick Up Additional Nods

While the Marvel movie picks up three additional nominations, the drama series notches seven nominations.

AceShowbiz - "Black Panther", "The Greatest Showman", and "Riverdale" have picked up additional nods in the final wave of nominations for the 2018 Teen Choice Awards.

Days after winning Best Villain at the MTV Movie and TV Awards, actor Michael B. Jordan is in the running for the Movie Villain title for his role in superhero blockbuster "Black Panther", facing off against fellow Marvel baddies Cate Blanchett in "Thor: Ragnarok", and Josh Brolin in "Avengers: Infinity War", as well as Adam Driver ("Star Wars: The Last Jedi"), Bill Skarsgard ("It"), and Aiden Gillen ("Maze Runner: The Death Cure").

Breakout Movie Star will be a fight between the likes of Keala Settle ("The Greatest Showman"), Kelly Marie Tran ("Star Wars: The Last Jedi"), and Letitia Wright ("Black Panther"), while contenders for Movie-Ship, honouring the best big screen couples, include Chadwick Boseman and Lupita Nyong'o in "Black Panther", and Zac Efron and Zendaya in "The Greatest Showman".

Summer Movie Actor features nominees such as Deadpool 2's Ryan Reynolds and Julian Dennison, and "Solo: A Star Wars Story" leads Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover, while co-star Emilia Clarke will battle for the female equivalent, against Deadpool 2's Zazie Beetz and Sandra Bullock ("Ocean's 8"), among others.

In the TV categories, "Riverdale" picked up seven nominations on Friday, June 22, with recognition for Mark Consuelos as TV Villain, Vanessa Morgan as Breakout TV Star, and real-life lovers Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart for TV-Ship, the award for TV couples, for which K.J. Apa and Camila Mendes are also shortlisted.

Other TV-Ship couples include "Stranger Things" stars Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard and The Flash's Grant Gustin and Candice Patton.

The Teen Choice Awards, which cover movies, TV, and music, will be held in Los Angeles in August, 2018.
