New Set Photo of HBO's

New set photo of HBO's "Watchmen" features newspapers blasting headlines of Veidt's death.

In the comics, Veidt was last seen faking an alien invasion and decimating New York City that led to countless people being killed. He did such action in the name of peace, keeping the United States and the Soviet Union, who were in the Cold War, from using their nuclear arsenal against each other.

In addition, another headline in the newspaper that reads, "Boise Squid Shower Destroys Homeless Camp, Kills 2," seemingly indicates that Veidt's fake alien invasion is personified by a giant squid monster. However, it remains to be seen what "squid shower" actually means and how exactly it kills people.

The photo aligns with other photos from the set. The photos reveal that public is creating squid shelters as several signs featuring a squid-like image has been posted in some corners in the city.

The new revelation of Veidt being dead proves that EP and showrunner Damon Lindelof stays true to his previous remark of the show. "We have no desire to 'adapt' the twelve issues Mr. Moore and Mr. [Dave] Gibbons created thirty years ago. Those issues are sacred ground and they will not be retread nor recreated nor reproduced nor rebooted. They will, however, be remixed," Lindelof said.

Starring Don Johnson, Regina King, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens and Andrew Howard, the upcoming TV adaptation of "Watchmen" will have its pilot directed by Nicole Kassell from the script written by Lindelof.
