A spokesperson for the Buckingham Palace says in a statement that the British monarch 'successfully underwent a short, planned procedure to treat a cataract last month.'

AceShowbiz - British monarch Queen Elizabeth II recently underwent cataract surgery to clear her blurry vision.

A spokesperson for royal residence Buckingham Palace confirmed the medical news on Friday, June 08 after the 92-year-old raised eyebrows in recent days for wearing a rare pair of sunglasses.

"I can confirm that The Queen successfully underwent a short, planned procedure to treat a cataract last month," the representative said.

It's not known exactly when the routine procedure took place, but it hasn't affected her royal diary as the Queen celebrated the wedding of her grandson Prince Harry and his bride Meghan Markle, now known as Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, on May 19 and then hosted two garden parties at her London home days later.
