BTS Makes New Record on Billboard 200 With 'Love Yourself: Tear'

The South Korean boyband becomes the first K-Pop act to rule Billboard 200 as their latest album arrives atop the chart.

AceShowbiz - They did it again! BTS (Bangtan Boys) continues to make new history in music industry as their latest album, "Love Yourself: Tear", debuts atop Billboard 200. The set, which was released on May 18, racked up 135,000 equivalent album units, including 100,000 in traditional album sales, in the week ending May 24, according to Nielsen Music.

In addition to marking their first No. 1 album on the chart, the South Korean boyband becomes the first K-Pop act to lead the chart. The effort is additionally the second K-Pop album to reach top 10, following the group's previous album "Love Yourself: Her" which debuted and peaked at No. 7 last year.

"Love Yourself: Tear" is also the first primarily foreign-language album to top the chart in over 12 years. The last musician to do so was vocal quartet Il Divo, who ruled the chart back in 2006 with their album "Ancora".

Back to the Billboard chart, Post Malone's record-breaking "Beerbongs & Bentleys" falls from its top spot to No. 2 with 123,000 units. Meanwhile, Lil Baby scores his first top 10 effort as his debut album, "Harder Than Ever", opens at No. 3 with 71,000 units. Another effort who debuts at this week's chart is Five Finger Death Punch's "And Justice for None", which arrives at No. 4 with 71,000 units.

Cardi B's "Invasion of Privacy" soars to No. 5 with 48,000 units, while "The Greatest Showman" soundtrack descends to No. 6 with 44,000 units. Trailing behind is J. Cole's "KOD" which drops to No. 7 with 41,000 units. Canadian rapper NAV's debut studio album "Reckless" lands at No. 8 with 36,000 units.

Rounding out this week's top 10 are "Black Panther" soundtrack and Playboi Carti's "Die Lit". While the soundtrack to the Marvel movie is a non-mover at No. 9 with 28,000 units, the latter's album dips to No. 10 in its second week with 26,000 units.

Next week, Shawn Mendes is expected to score his third No. 1 album with his self-titled album.
