Emmanuel Gonzalez claims the rapper calling him out on social media after making reference to an article in which the police is accused of trying to blackmail a club owner.

AceShowbiz - A New York police boss has filed a criminal complaint against 50 Cent after the rapper appeared to threaten him in a post online.

The In Da Club hitmaker, real name Curtis Jackson, called out Emmanuel Gonzalez, the head of a police precinct in Brooklyn, in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, May 23, after making reference to a news article in which he is accused of trying to blackmail Imran Jairam, the owner of the Love & Lust Club, in a bid to score free gifts, like round-trip plane tickets to Puerto Rico.

Seemingly a fan of the hotspot, 50 reportedly captioned the upload, "Get the strap," using the slang term for a gun - a phrase he adds to many of his social media posts.

He then told his 18.1 million followers, "Oh no not LUST... They trying to shut him (Jairam) down...(sic)".

A number of his fans were quick to echo the term, prompting Gonzalez to report 50 to authorities.

According to the New York Post, he claims he "is annoyed, alarmed, and is in fear of his safety".

"Comments included, but are not limited to, 'Get the strap' multiple times, (and) 'F**k this commander has to get the strap ASAP (as soon as possible),'" it continues.

New York Police Department officials are said to be taking the investigation "seriously", but 50 Cent appears to be unfazed by the controversy.

He has since deleted the post in question, but on Thursday afternoon, May 24, he shared a screen shot of the Post's article about the complaint, and made light of the whole situation, using the same slang which landed him in trouble in the first place.

"oh s**t, get the strap," he wrote beside the snap. "LOL (laugh out loud). they investigating my drip (swag), l got too much sauce (style)".

50's representative has also addressed the controversy with TheBlast.com, insisting the star has long been using the phrase in a playful manner.

"Taken in its proper context, the specific post in question was neither intended as, nor could reasonably be interpreted as a threat or call to violence against anyone," the spokesperson said in a statement.

"(It's a) slogan he has been posting across all of his social media platforms. It is posted in connection with photographs and videos, including many featuring just him or things he is promoting".

"So the record is clear, Mr. Jackson does not condone or promote the use of violence against anyone," the statement continued. ‎"'Get The Strap' is a playful phrase used by Mr. Jackson to punctuate absurd and outrageous situations."

The drama emerges a week after 50 was slapped with a revenge porn lawsuit from singer-turned-reality TV star Teairra Mari. He stands accused of trying to "slut shame" her by reposting images of Mari from a sex tape, which had allegedly been leaked by her ex-boyfriend, Akbar Abdul-Ahad.
