Showrunner Michael Seitzman shares the sad news to fans via Twitter, calling the medical drama 'a true joy to make.'

AceShowbiz - Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden's TV medical drama Code Black has been cancelled after three seasons.

The U.S. show's creator Michael Seitzman broke the news to fans via Twitter on Thursday, May 24, calling the project "a true joy to make".

"Thank you for all of your passion," he wrote. "Truly, our best episodes have yet to air. We hope you'll watch and enjoy them. We made them for you."

The series returned to TV at the end of last month for a third season, but ratings have not been kind.

"We always suspected this would be the last season. We wrote it to end that way," Seitzman tweeted.

The series also featured Boris Kodjoe, Moon Bloodgood, Luis Guzman, and Rob Lowe.
