'Being considered a public figure honestly makes me laugh,' the 'SNL' producer shares.

AceShowbiz - Lindsay Shookus, the girlfriend of Ben Affleck, has addressed the attention she receives from dating the Oscar-winning actor. Lindsay, who has been working behind-the-scenes of "Saturday Night Live" for years, admits that living in the spotlight is "strange" to her.

"It's a strange to me," the 37-year-old tells Elle. "My entire career has been behind the camera, and that's definitely where I'm most comfortable."

"I'm a producer, I'm a mom, a friend. Being considered a public figure honestly makes me laugh," the "SNL" producer adds, before joking, "Someone thinks about you for one minute and then says, 'What do I want for lunch?' "

"I've put a lot of time in the past two years into just making myself better internally," said Lindsay, who is a mom of a 5-year-old daughter from a previous marriage to producer Kevin Miller. "Self-love means something. I thought it was all a joke for a long time. It's really important. Giving yourself a break is really important."

Lindsay is one of the producers who discovered a then-unknown Kristen Wiig, and booked Sam Smith for a memorable 2014 performance before his debut album even came out in the U.S. "Auditioning for 'SNL' is a very nerve-racking experience, and Lindsay and I clicked," Kristen tells the magazine about the start of her friendship with the producer.

"She kind of talked me down a little bit -- I was very nervous. She was with me through the whole process; I'll never forget that," Kristen shares. She also adds that Lindsay "is fun to get a drink with and is also one of the better dancers I know."

Lindsay and Ben went public with their romance in July 2017, when they were spotted out and about on several occasions. They reportedly started dating in April of the same year. However, rumor had it, they "started their affair about three years ago, just a few months after she became a mom. They were not casually dating, they were having a full-blown affair."

Prior to dating Lindsay, Ben was married to actress Jennifer Garner. They decided to split in 2015 and officially filed for divorce in April 2017. The former couple shares 3 kids together, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
