Chris Hemsworth Is Circling Sony's 'Men in Black' Spin-Off
Movie

The 'Thor' actor is in early negotiations to star in Sony's 'Men in Black' spin-off as one of the agents.

AceShowbiz - Sony Pictures wants to bring new cast to one of its popular franchises. Chris Hemsworth is rumored to lead an untitled Men in Black spin-off. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris is in negotiations to play one of the agents in the movie.

Similar to how they revived "Jurassic Park" with "Jurassic World", Sony is taking the same route to recreate "Men in Black" with new characters. Some say that the studio is hoping to round out a diverse cast. It may potentially put a white male, a female of color and an older man as the leads. However, the plot of the film which is penned by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum is still unknown.

The first "Men in Black" story began when a government agency made contact with alien refugees which were mostly disguised as humans. Men in Black was a secret agency that policed these aliens, protected the earth from intergalactic threats and used memory-erasing neuralyzers to keep alien activity in secret.

The first "Men in Black" gained $589 million at the global box office in 1997. After the first movie's success, two sequels followed in 2002 and a decade later in 2012. The entire franchise has made more than $1.5 billion worldwide.

F. Gary Gray is reported to direct the "Men in Black" spin-off. Meanwhile, Laurie MacDonald and Walter F. Parkes are back as producers. The movie is set to be released on June 14, 2019 in the United States.

Chris last starred in war movie "12 Strong" as Captain Mitch Nelson. He reprises his role as Thor in "Avengers: Infinity War" which is due out on May 4 in the United States. Then he will star in "Bad Times at the El Royale". The movie is directed by Drew Goddard and is scheduled to be released on October 5.

His acting career aside, the 34-year-old actor revealed he showed his film "Thor: Ragnarok" to his children. He posted on his Instagram account a video featuring his children watching the movie. He jokingly wrote in the caption, "Just downloaded Thor Ragnarok and the brainwashing has begun, soak it up kids #fatheroftheyear #thorragnarok #thor @taikawaititi @marvel."

Actually, there was a story behind the video. His children once visited him in Marvel Studios to see the actor fighting monsters, but the actor said that the siblings were unimpressed. "They were like, 'This is so boring! We thought you fought monsters for a living and you don't. You just pretend, and so we're going to wreck stuff,' " he said. "And that's what they did. They ran around and broke things." Christ admitted that he looked cool with all the special effects, but when his children saw behind the curtain, "It ruined it."
