AceShowbiz - The Salvatore brothers of "The Vampire Diaries" are back, guys. Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, who played Damon and Stefan Salvatore respectively on The CW series, recently reunited, sparking social media frenzy among fans of the fantasy drama.

Paul posted a photo of him and his former co-star on Instagram Stories on Saturday, February 10. The photo, which was taken at "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" Official Convention in Nashville this weekend, saw the two posing for the camera while flashing subtle smiles.

Paul wrote "reunion" across the photo. The snap quickly drove fans crazy since it's the first photo of the cast members after the show ended its run last year.

"PAUL AND IAN REUNION I'M SCREAMING," said an excited fan on Twitter. Similarly, another fan couldn't hide her excitement for the reunion, writing, "I'm so happy that Ian and Paul had a reunion #TVDFOREVER."

"HOLY CRAP I CANT BREATHE!!! DAMON!!! STEFAN!!!!! IAN!!! PAUL!!!! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME!?!!? HELP IM DYING!!! MY POOR HEART ACHES!!!!" tweeted another fan.

"The Vampire Diaries", based on the popular book series of the same name by L. J. Smith, ran for eight seasons before wrapping on March 10, 2017. The series also starred Nina Dobrev, Steven R. McQueen, Sara Canning and Katerina Graham. Meanwhile, it's spin-off "The Originals" is set to premiere its fifth and final season on April 20.

In related news, "The Vampire Diaries" showrunner Julie Plec, who guest-directed an episode of season 2 of "Riverdale", recently revealed that the two shows have a surprising connection. It turned out that the current residence of the Blossoms which was called Thistlehouse was the original Salvatore Boarding House from the pilot of "The Vampire Diaries".

Plec said to Bustle, "It was so funny. I had seen Thistlehouse on camera but it hadn't registered with me. And when we pulled up the driveway for the location scout to go see it, I was like, 'This is so familiar. I feel like I've been here before. Gosh, I really think I know this (place)'. And then I actually took a good look at the house and realized it was the Salvatore House from ('The Vampire Diaries') pilot. Isn't that hilarious? Because we shot the pilot in Vancouver. And the backyard of it, which is so gorgeous, is where we built our cemetery. That was a nice flashback!"
