AceShowbiz - "Halloween" sequel has officially kicked off production. To mark the first day of filming, Jamie Lee Curtis took to her official Instagram account on Tuesday, January 30 to share an on-set picture with director David Gordon Green.

The actress was dressed in character, rocking shoulder-length hair to reprise her role as Laurie Strode. She also donned a denim shirt, a black jacket and matching pants. Green, who stood next to her, held a clapperboard which looked old.

"First shot. @halloweenmovie Halloween 40 years later. Same slate. Same Laurie. David Gordon Green directing from his script," she captioned it, adding, "Happy Halloween 2018 everyone. See you all 10/19/18 #halloweenmovie."

Simply titled "Halloween (2018)", the upcoming installment of the slasher film franchise is set as a direct sequel to the original. The story will see Laurie having a final confrontation with her deranged stalker who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Green ("Goat", "Our Brand Is Crisis") is directing the movie from the script which he wrote with the help of Danny McBride. John Carpenter, who directed the original 1978 film, will serve as an executive producer and creative consultant on the film. Jason Blum and Malek Akkad are on board as producers.

Carpenter has promised this sequel will go back to "Halloween's" horror roots and will be made on a smaller budget like the original movie. Supported by Judy Greer and Andi Matichak in the cast, the film is slated for October 19 release in the United States.

Curtis last played Laurie in 2002's "Halloween: Resurrection". She also appeared in 1981's "Halloween II" and 1998's "Halloween H20: 20 Years Later." She additionally voiced a telephone operator in 1982's "Halloween III: Season of the Witch".

The other titles in the franchise are 1988's "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers", 1989's "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers", and 1995's "Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers". A remake directed by Rob Zombie was released in 2007. A second movie followed in 2009.
