AceShowbiz - The demonic nun in supernatural horror film "The Conjuring 2" is getting her own movie. New Line is developing the spin-off with James Wan and Peter Safran reuniting as producers, The Hollywood Reporter has reported.

The story will center on the demonic nun figure, a character who was painted by Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson) and attacked Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) several times in the sequel to "The Conjuring". The script will be written by David Leslie Johnson, who also co-wrote "The Conjuring 2". No other information is available at this time, including a director or cast.

According to sources, the demon nun character was added during last-minute reshoots. The movie originally would have a demonic figure with horns as its antagonist character. However, Wan came up with a new concept, a demon nun, which he pitched to the studio. It was only three months before the movie's release when New Line exec gave the director their blessing.

"The Nun" will be the second spin-off of "The Conjuring" franchise. The 2014 "Annabelle", which centers on the demon-possessed doll which played a big part in the first film, was developed following the success of "The Conjuring". The sequel to "Annabelle" is slated for 2017 by Warner Bros.
