AceShowbiz - "Captain America: Civil War" remains no. 1 at weekend box office after having the fifth-biggest opening ever. The sequel to "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" enjoys a strong second weekend with approximately $72.6 million domestically.
Worldwide-wise, "Civil War" raced to $940 million, earning a total of $296 million in North America and $645 million overseas, where it likewise came in No. 1 for the weekend with $84.2 million. The third installment of "Captain America" film series also pushed the entirety of MCU, which now spans 13 installments, past $10 billion.
Fellow Disney movie "The Jungle Book" places second during its fifth weekend with an estimated $17.8 million, pushing its domestic total to $311.8 million and its global total to $828.1 million. Jodie Foster's "Money Monster", starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts, comes in third place with around $15 million. "The Darkness (2016)" lands in the fourth place with approximately $5.2 million in its opening weekend, while "Mother's Day (2016)" follows behind with an estimated $3.3 million.
