AceShowbiz - "Space Jam 2" starring LeBron James may actually be happening! Justin Lin is circling the follow-up to the 1996 original, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The "Fast & Furious 6" helmer is co-writing a script along with Andrew Dodge and Alfredo Botello.
Justin will also serve as producer for "Space Jam 2" via his Perfect Storm Entertainment. Sources tell the site that the "Star Trek Beyond" director will be thoroughly involved in the creative development of the project.
Rumors of a sequel to the live-action/animated 1996 have been circulating for years but resurfaced in July when LeBron and his company Spring Hill Entertainment signed a deal with Warner Bros.
The original "Space Jam", starring Michael Jordan with a collection of Looney Tunes characters playing a game of basketball against aliens threatening their freedom, earned $230.4 million worldwide.
Justin is working with Andrew Dodge on a couple of projects. The duo have teamed up on an untitled cop comedy and a TV drama for HBO starring Jeremy Renner, which both Justin will produce through Perfect Storm and Andrew will write.
