Movie

Pablo Hidalgo, part of the Lucasfilm Story Group, took to Twitter to clarify rumors that Rey was the daughter of Luke Skywalker.

AceShowbiz - Since Rey's surname hasn't been revealed, there are numerous rumors about her familial status. Earlier this week, a gameplay from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Disney Infinity game hit the internet and surprised "Star Wars" fans as it was said to reveal that Rey (Daisy Ridley) was actually Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) cousin. Was that true? Well, that's not the case after all.

[SPOILER ALERT!] In a particular scene in the video, Rey is seen fighting Ren using a series of weapons. Ren, who holds his red lightsaber, seems to shout, "Face me, cousin!" to Rey. The scene sparked speculations that Rey is the daughter to Luke Skywalker, who turns out to be Ren's uncle.

Not so long after the rumors surfaced, Pablo Hidalgo, part of the Lucasfilm Story Group, took to Twitter to clarify it. "Oh, come on. He says, 'Face me!' And then says 'CURSES' because he's been hit," Hildago wrote. It seems like Ren says "face me" because Rey is dancing around to avoid direct contact with him. When he gets hit, he then says "curses." So, it turns out that the videogame playthough didn't spoil any information about Rey's parents.

While Rey's familial status is kept secret, scriptwriter Lawrence Kasdan revealed that mysteries about each hero in the seventh episode would be unveiled in "Star Wars Episode VIII" and "Star Wars Episode IX". "The Force Awakens" hit theaters on December 18. The movie had a record-breaking opening, launching to $247 million at the domestic box office for a global total of $529 million.
