Anne Hathaway to Star in Sci-Fi Comedy 'The Shower'

One of the best unproduced screenplays of 2014, the film is about a meteor shower that turns men to blood-thirsty aliens.

AceShowbiz - "Interstellar" star Anne Hathaway is doing another science fiction movie but with a twist of comedy. The actress has signed on to star and produce "The Shower" which screenplay was among the 2014 Black List.

Written by Jac Schaeffer, the film is about a baby shower that turns into a meteor shower that turns men into blood-thirsty aliens. The women must fend off the aliens to save the world. According to THR, the project is described as "This Is the End" meets "Attack the Block" meets "Bridesmaids".

"Anne is the perfect actor to anchor a story that is ultimately about female friendship, with a lot of ass-kicking along the way," said Schaeffer. Hathaway said, "Jac [Schaeffer] has written an awesome sci-fi comedy centered around funny, fully dimensional female characters. I feel so lucky to be a part of the team that will bring her enormously talented and fresh voice to the big screen."

No director has been attached yet as the project is in the packaging phase. The casting will be followed by proposal to financiers and studios. Andrew Lauren Productions is producing the film along with Hathaway's husband Adam Shulman, and D.J. Gugenheim.
