AceShowbiz - Something evil is unleashed in the first full trailer for Starz's new series "Ash vs. Evil Dead". Debuted at Comic-Con, the promo video gives viewers a quick background on the story as Bruce Campbell's Ash Williams tells his sidekick Pablo (Ray Santiago) how he accidentally woke the deadites decades ago. Also aided by Kelly (Dana Delorenzo), Ash picks up his chainsaw again to banish the evil creatures that are seemingly going after him.
Judging from the trailer, the show has a perfect mix of humor, horror and bloody actions, which was also the successful formula for Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" movies. The video offers a glimpse of Lucy Lawless' Ruby, a mysterious figure who is determined to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks. She believes that Ash is the cause of it all.
Raimi said at the panel that the TV series "[is] really a continuation of the 'Evil Dead' movies. Starz didn't want to change it, they wanted the gore and to push." Raimi directed the first episode and if the series gets a second season, he is willing to direct more episodes.
"Ash vs. Evil Dead" is set to premiere on Halloween, Saturday, October 31 at 9/8c.
