The Marvel superhero flick topped the North American box office for the second weekend in a row with approximately $77.2 million.

AceShowbiz - "Avengers: Age of Ultron" rules box office for the second weekend in a row. The sequel of Marvel's "The Avengers" adds approximately $77.2 million for a domestic total of $312.6 million. Although it's nearly 60|percent| drop from its opening weekend of $191.3 million, it's enough to block "Hot Pursuit" from making No.1 debut.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" has earned a roughly $875 million worldwide. The Joss Whedon-directed movie enjoyed the biggest sophomore weekend of all time after the first "Avengers" which earned $865.3 million. It tied with "The Dark Knight" to become the fastest film to reach $300 million within 9 days behind "The Avengers".
The superhero movie should have no trouble to become the second 2015 release to collect $1 billion globally behind "Furious 7" as it has yet to open in China and Japan.
Meanwhile, "Hot Pursuit" settles at the second place with approximately $13.3 million. The Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara-starring comedy is followed by Blake Lively-starring film "The Age of Adaline" with an estimated $5.6 million. "Furious 7" is placed fourth in its sixth weekend with approximately $5.3 million, while "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" takes the fifth place with an estimated $5.2 million.
