The comedy group behind the widely successful 'Super Troopers' has launched a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGogo with the goal to raise $2 million before April 24.

AceShowbiz - Comedy group Broken Lizard has launched a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGogo to raise money for the production of "Super Troopers 2". The goal of the campaign is to raise $2 million by April 24 and it has raised more than $1.25 million within 10 hours of its announcement.

Broken Lizard shares on Twitter a photo of "Super Troopers 2" campaign which shows the original troopers Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske along with message which reads, "THE TIME IS MEOW. Let's Do It."

The group also releases a campaign video on YouTube along with caption, "The time is meow. Help us make Super Troopers 2. Score some killer perks and contribute now at supertroopers2movie.com."

"We finally have the chance to make 'Super Troopers 2'," Jay tells Variety, "But since we refused to write a sequel where the highway cops have morphed into super hero-vampires, Fox Searchlight proposed the following deal: They'll release the film, but we have to raise all of the money. So we've turned to Indiegogo and our fans to prove that it's finally time for 'Super Troopers 2' to get made."

While a $10 donation will get fans a "sweet digital-mega script," fans can also donate $10,000 and get a speaking role in the movie or even $25,000 for the cast to appear in their wedding. Those who donate $35,000 will get a producing credit and one of the movie's patrol cars.

If the campaign can raise more than $2 million, Broken Lizard promises a "better movie" with "bigger stunts," "louder explosions," "cameo from real Hollywood actors," "more full-frontal Farva" and even "Kate Upton."

"Super Troopers" was made for $1.2 million and acquired by Fox Searchlight at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. It grossed $23.1 million worldwide.
