Kaleidoscope 2014: Important Events in Entertainment (Part 2/4)
Celebrity

Notable events in this second part include major changes on CBS' late-night line-up, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's extravaganza wedding, and Tracy Morgan's deadly car accident.

AceShowbiz - Looking back to the second trimester of the year, it's hard to skip the big shake-up on CBS' late-night line-up. David Letterman announced on April 3 that he would retire in 2015 and a week later Stephen Colbert was chosen as his replacement. Craig Ferguson followed suit by announcing his exit from "The Late Late Show" after 10 years.

Celebrities' weddings kept making headlines too, with happy news coming from Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who celebrated their union in Italy in summer, and Ginnifer Goodwin tying the knot with baby daddy Josh Dallas in Los Angeles. Some others, however, were not that lucky as Bryan Singer got entangled in sexual abuse scandal, Solange Knowles and Jay-Z had a nasty fight in an elevator, and Tracy Morgan was seriously injured in a car accident involving a Walmart truck.

APRIL

The search was over when CBS officially announced Stephen Colbert as David Letterman's replacement on the "Late Show". The host of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" signed a five-year deal with the network and will take over the 11:31 P.M. slot in 2015 after Letterman retires. The veteran host and comedian fully supported CBS' decision, stating, "I'm very excited for him, and I'm flattered that CBS chose him." But it's not the only shakeup to happen in the network's late-night lineup as Craig Ferguson announced in late April that he would leave "The Late Late Show" after 10 years, forcing CBS to go on another hunt which ended later in the year when James Corden was chosen as his successor.

MAY

Kim Kardashian's tiny acts often grab people's attention, let alone her lavish wedding to Kanye West. The festivities kicked off in Paris with some gatherings, including one at the Palace of Versailles where Lana Del Rey made a live performance. The ceremony itself took place at the historic Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy. The altar was decorated with extravagant walls of flowers to complement the stylish bride who showed off her curves in a mermaid-silhouette gown by Givenchy Haute Couture. While her previous wedding to Kris Humphries was broadcast on E!, she decided to keep the event private this time, only to make her fans more curious. Thus, it came as no surprise when her official wedding picture became most liked post, three days after it was posted on her Instagram.

JUNE

From now on, Tracy Morgan would remember June 7, 2014 as an unfortunate day in his life. The actor/comedian, who was kept busy with stand-up comedy tour post-"30 Rock", was involved in a six-vehicle accident in New Jersey, where the Mercedes Sprinter limousine he was in was struck from behind by a tractor-trailer operated by Walmart. He suffered a broken leg and femur, broken nose and several broken ribs, and underwent surgery on his leg, while his friend and collaborator, 62-year-old comedian James McNair, died in the car crash. The "Saturday Night Live" alum was still undergoing rehab and required a wheelchair months after the incident. Morgan then sued Walmart for negligence as the truck driver Kevin Roper was revealed to have been awake for more than 24 hours before the crash.
