AceShowbiz - NBC musical fever has apparently spread to "Today". On Monday, December 29, the show premiered a 14-minute musical focusing on prop guy Sal Cacciato who dreams of performing on Broadway.

The musical opens with the show's crew singing and dancing while doing the behind-the-scenes preparation of the daily broadcast. Sal is one of them. He runs into the show's guest Regis Philbin, who overheard him singing and then encourages him to take his chance to become a star.

The plot also includes Matt Lauer stripping down to his boxers while his pants are being ironed, and Regis ruining his "Today" interview after accidentally eating spicy meatballs.

Co-host Savannah Guthrie tweeted after the musical aired, "Yes! Sal really does work for @TODAYshow and is really that talented! Time for his big break, universe. Hire @CacciatoSal! #TODAYMusical."
