A man bought 50 tickets to the movie and hoped to resell it, but his plan backfired after Sony decided to release the Seth Rogen and James Franco-starring movie digitally.

AceShowbiz - A man from Ohio wants refund after he bought $650 in tickets to "The Interview". The man named Jason Best wanted to take advantage of the fact that Esquire Theatre in Clifton, Ohio is the only one in the area which screens the comedy starring Seth Rogen and James Franco. He bought 50 tickets and hoped to resell it, but his plan backfired when Sony Pictures Entertainment announced they would also release it digitally.

"I saw all the hype about The Interview on [Dec.] 23rd and thought, 'Hey, folks are selling these tickets in other cities and it seems like that's the thing to do right now, so why not give it a shot to see how it goes,' " Best told WCPO. Due to the digital release, ticket demand dropped drastically.

Best tried to get refund, but he failed. The theater considers "The Interview" screening as special event and they are not giving refunds for such events. "I thought I'd get my money back because the theater's website *very clearly* said the tickets were refundable," he said in an email to the news outlet. The theater's manager Allyson Duncan eplained the theater would not give refund because Best intended to scalp the tickets, "which is illegal."

"The Interview" arrived on YouTube, Google Play, Xbox Video and Sony's website a few days ago. On Sunday, December 28 it was finally released on iTunes. It is available for purchase at $14.99 or rent at $5.99.
