AceShowbiz - "Exodus: Gods and Kings" won't be shown in Egypt. The movie starring Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Pharaoh Ramses has been banned in the country because of "historical inaccuracies" and a pro-Zionist view.
Egyptian authorities especially take issues with the claim that the Jews built pyramids, the portrayal of Moses as a general, not a Prophet, and the claim that earthquake or "tidal phenomenon," rather than a miracle by Moses, that caused Red Sea to part.
"This totally contradicts proven historical facts," Egyptian culture minister Gaber Asfour said of Ridley Scott's film. "It is a Zionist film. It gives a Zionist view of history and contains historical inaccuracies and that's why we have decided to ban it."
"Furthermore," added Abdul Sattar Fathi, the head of the Egyptian state censorship board. "It shows ancient Egyptians as a mob group persecuting peaceful Jews. Our board has refused this out of respect for Egyptians' feelings."
Aside from Egypt, Morocco reportedly also bans "Exodus" which previously stirred controversy with the casting of all-white actors.
