The 24-year-old R 'n' B singer has been released from custody after posting $50,000 bond following an early Friday arrest for allegedly assaulting mother Shawntia Hardaway.

AceShowbiz - R&B singer Mario was arrested on early Friday, October 1 for allegedly assaulting his heroin-addicted mother at their Fells Point apartment, The Baltimore Sun reported. According to the site, the 24-year-old star has been released from custody after posting $50,000 bond and charged with one count of second-degree assault.

The arrest was made after police were called to the 900 block of Fell St. at about 12:50 A.M. Once the officers arrived, they saw Mario's mother Shawntia Hardaway in the lobby where she cried and informed them that her son was "throwing and damaging property" as well as pushing her which caused her a "minor pain".

The site mentioned that a broken china cabinet and glass strewn across the floor were found in the apartment. Besides, there was a hole in a closet door. According to police report, "when this officer asked the victim if she fears for her life in reference to her son's actions, the victim replied 'yes'."

Shawntia also claimed this wasn't the first time Mario laid his hand on her. On September 27, she revealed that she and the former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant had an argument during which he pushed her "eight feet into a living room wall, where Ms. Hardaway hit her head on the wall."

An attorney for Mario, in the meantime, said the arrest was "an unfortunate incident between a loving son and a mother who continues to struggle with a devastating addiction." Attorney William "Hassan" Murphy III further said, "Anyone who has waged the battle to save loved ones from the forces of drugs knows the irrational behavior that almost always accompanies their actions. Mario remains committed to supporting his mother."
