From the time Elena Gilbert starts a new chapter in her life through meeting a mysterious boy to finding the danger in befriending him, the extended trailer of "The Vampire Diaries" has it all. Besides, the newly released footage brings up clearer plot and conflict that come along with the arrival of Damon.
Elena has always been a star student - beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends. As the fall semester begins, Elena becomes fascinated with mysterious new boy in school, Stefan Salvatore, and she has no way of knowing he is a centuries-old vampire.
While Stefan struggles to live peacefully among humans, his brother Damon is the embodiment of violence and brutality. Now these two vampire brothers - one good, one evil - are at war for Elena's soul in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.
"The Vampire Diaries" is premiering September 10 on The CW. It will take the Thursday 8/7c slot before "Supernatural".
Nina Dobrev, the star of "Degrassi: The Next Generation", plays Elena. Paul Wesley ("Army Wives") is Stefan while Ian Somerhalder ("Lost") is the evil brother Damon.

Twilight was written in 2005. These books were written in the 1990's. Quit saying this is a copy of twilight, because it indeed isn't, it came way before twilight. Don't get me wrong I love twilight, tho. Great books, can't wait for the show. Paul and Ian are HAWT!
A lot of details in Twilight was actually similar to the ones in Smith's books. See, Smith is a writer, Meyer is a single mother.
they were written before Twilight so how can they be a direct copy cat? ugh people need to get there info beore they look like idiots.
