Balthazar Getty Not Leaving 'Brothers and Sisters' Permanently

Rumors that have been circling on Balthazar Getty departing from 'Brothers & Sisters' has been squashed, but his status in the show is changed.

AceShowbiz - Balthazar Getty may have earned the surname of Walker in the ABC drama "Brothers & Sisters" but it doesn't make him a regular cast. Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that the actor's plea to be made the series' full-time actor in the fourth season has been rejected by the producers of the show.

Contrary to the rumors swirling around Getty's departure, Ausiello continued that Tommy will most likely still show his face in the series as a recurring guest star. Getty reportedly is still in talks to have a reduced number of appearances and not permanently removed. Additionally, a spokesperson for Getty has also denied that the actor is leaving the show.

No accurate reason for the status reduction has been thrown to the table but Ausiello quotes "multiple sources" as saying that it has to do with budgetary and storyline considerations. Getty's character, Tommy, has been long considered as the most detachable one in the show. Should the producers need to introduce new characters, they could cut the slack by removing Tommy.

"Brothers & Sisters" will be back on screen on January 4 with the episode "A Father Dreams".
