Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden Postponed Wedding Until 2009 Due to Busy Careers

Initially planned to hold their nuptial in Bali, Indonesia, Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden have to unfortunately postpone their wedding until 2009.

Confirmed the wedding cancellation, a representative for the pop princess claimed the couple's busy careers as the real reason for the delay, not McFadden's addiction to nicotine.

McFadden, who's a former Westlife star, said in an interview with UK's Hello! Magazine that his future father-in-law had given him an ultimatum concerning his smoking habit.

"He gave me the 'dad speech' and said I could wed Delta but there was a condition: 'You can't marry her unless you stop smoking'," he said. "I said I would but not for a while. I'll have to push back the wedding until I do it!"

It was that statement that later on prompted speculation that McFadden has been forced to postpone his marriage to Delta because he can't quit smoking.

Set the record straight, Delta's representative explained, "Yes Brian and Delta's father Dennis did discuss the need for him to cut down on his smoking" adding that "But that's not the reason they haven't set a date for the wedding yet and it's looking more likely to be next year. It's due to the fact their careers are occupying most of their time in 2008."

Delta issued a statement through her spokesperson in late November confirming she's engaged to McFadden. On choosing the Indonesian island as the location to hold their impending nuptial, McFadden said "We have friends all over the world so we'd like it to be somewhere in the middle."
