Ziad Doueiri's "The Insult" is anything but a cringe comedy.. the movie nevertheless provides a profound look at the effect of historical trauma on modern Lebanese society
this is where "The Insult" excels: showing how easy it is to find the hypocrisy in one's actions if he is forced to face it.. it doesn’t matter who started the conflict, just who’s willing to step up and solve it
Doueiri sets out the issues in an easily understood, rather too obvious manner, shifting into the courtroom.. Both sides get an impassioned defense, and yet, like Lebanon as a whole, there's a whole lot of talk and zero accountability
a highly political movie that's also a personal story of two men going head-to-head.., this gorgeously shot and classily acted feature might be a reel too long but is nonetheless a fascinating piece of work
