Ivan Sen has combined two genres uncommon to Australia, to deliver one classic film no Australian should miss; [the protagonist] works perfectly fine as a stand-alone story. It's a gorgeous film to watch, but a better and bigger one to think about
as in Mystery Road, the film builds, with considerable suspense, to a climactic gun battle that is extremely well staged ; Pedersen and Russell, both very good as the two cops, head a distinguished and talented cast
