Mick Jagger to Form Supergroup With Elton John for 2012 Olympics Games
October 27, 2008 10:10:35The Rolling Stones have reportedly been booked out to perform at the opening ceremony of 2012 Olympics games and the band's singer Mick Jagger wants to be joined on stage by David Bowie and Elton John, according to OK! Magazine. "Mick feels the Olympics coming to London is a huge honor - and wants to make his own gesture with the band," a source tells the publication.
Other big musicians who may perform at the upcoming event include Phil Collins, Sting, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, and Led Zeppelin's guitarist Jimmy Page. The source explains, "It's early stages but Page, Bowie, and Morrison are already involved, although no one is quite sure yet how the show will play out in its entirety."

The Rolling Stones vocalist Mick Jagger will release his first retrospective album this autumn. He also revealed that among the 17 tracks, the record titled 'The Very Best of Mick Jagger' will contain some rarities.
The unreleased materials are: 'Too Many Cooks (Spoil the Soup)' which was produced by John Lennon and recorded in a Los Angeles studio in 1973, 'Charmed Life', a cut material from his 1993 solo album 'Wandering Spirit', and 'Checkin Up on My Baby', a song recorded with blues band The Red Devils during 'Wandering Spirit' sessions.

Paul McCartney's wealth is decreasing as time goes by that he is only ranked 3rd in an annual list of Britain's Richest Musical Figures released Friday April 27th by the Sunday Times. The list said the former Beatle's wealth reaches an estimated £725 million, which is down £100 million from last year.
The decrease is presumably due to his costly divorce with estranged wife Heather Mills, the paper said. Top the annual rich list is the former record label boss Clive Calder, who is considered as the country's only music billionaire with a fortune estimated at £1.3 billion. Theater composer Andrew Lloyd Webber who is worth at £740 million is moving up to 2nd place from 3rd in 2006.

The Rolling Stones Postpone Another Concert

Bad news. The Rolling Stones postpone another show on their "Bigger Bang" world tour. To their fans' dismal the band has been forced to cancel their rare theater show at New York's Beacon Theatre scheduled for Tuesday evening Oct 31st after frontman Mick Jagger was struck down by a sore throat.
Due to the sick, doctors advised the rocker to rest his voice, which unfortunately forced his band to, in addition to the Tuesday show, also postpone their Friday night Oct 27th concert in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This is the second time that Jagger's throat has affected the Stones tour. In August the band cancelled two dates in Spain after the singer contracted laryngitis.

"Ruby Tuesday" is drawing closer to materialization. The animated project has drawn Mick Jagger in to co-produce through his Jagged Films production company, Variety has reported.
With this inclusion, Jagger then is set to collaborate with Luc Besson and Pierre-Ange Le Pogam of Europacorp in developing the picture. In the meantime, as part of the deal, the man will allow the flick to feature 12 songs of his band, The Rolling Stones.
Mick Jagger's Laryngitis Forced the Rolling Stones to Cancel Concert

The Rolling Stones was forced to cancel their concert, supposed to be held Monday August 14th in the northern city of Valladolid, after lead singer Mick Jagger was diagnosed with laryngitis over the weekend and was ordered by his doctors to rest his voice.
Carmen Carnero, a spokeswoman for the show's promoter, said that the British rock band had sold 37,000 tickets for the scheduled concert at the city's Zorilla soccer stadium. So far, there has yet any replacement date announced which may indicate the Stones would not make up the show. Though so, the band has announced plans to issue full refunds on all tickets purchased for the sold-out show.
Jerry Lee Lewis to Release "Redemption"

Got his fellow musicians to give contribution to his new album, Jerry Lee Lewis finally could have the set, tentatively titled "Redemption", released next September through Columbia Records.
The album, which is Lewis' first album in 11 years, was originally set for a February 2005 release via DreamWorks Nashville, which has since closed down.

Singing isn't something new for Mick Jagger, but when it comes to acting it surely something challenging for him. The singer reportedly is in talks to star in ABC's untitled comedy pilot about a group of blue-collar guys in New York who decide to rob a celebrity.
There in the Rob Burnett and Jon Beckerman's project, Jagger will play the celebrity. He would appear in only a few scenes, and his name is not expected to be in the title of the project, sources said. Nevertheless, the role he played holds a crucial part in the project and thus is mentioned numerous times in the scenes.

Q magazine has recently conducted a poll on the Worst Albums of All Time. Involving almost 2000 people, including professional guitarists and music teachers, Duran Duran's 1995 album "Thank You" comes on the very top position of the poll.
The set, a collection of covers featuring songs by artists who have influenced Duran Duran throughout the years, was claimed as "abysmal on every level". That's according to Gareth Grundy, Deputy Director of Q, who commented "Sometimes these things are redeemed by some sort of kitsch value, but it didn't even have that".
Elton John Between "Him and Us"

The atmosphere of The Rolling Stones concert Thursday night at the University of Virginia was interrupted in a sudden when lead singer Mick Jagger announced that authorities had told them to take a break.
Soon thereafter, several police officers and three bomb-sniffing dogs searched the stage, while the first 20 rows of spectators at the university's 61,000-seat Scott Stadium were cleared until police finished their work. None of them knew what was happening, while no explanation given about the incident. Apart, the band then continued their show after about a half-hour intermission.
Distributor Put Off Jagger's DVD

That's because he has allowed archival label Shout! Factory to include performances of "Brown Sugar" and "Street Fighting Man" filmed during a July 25, 1972 performance at Madison Square Garden in New York, and two backstage interviews he did with Cavett.
"The Dick Cavett Show," which was ran from 1969 to 1975, mixed lively debate on topical issues like Vietnam and women's rights with celebrity interviews and musical performances. Some famous take part in the segment, among others David Bowie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Janis Joplin and George Harrison.
