Born on July 6, 1979 in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kevin Hart was raised by a single mother as his father had chronic battle with cocaine and was often in and out of jail. The young boy later sought solace by making humor, finding his real-life childhood experience as source of entertaining topics. "The jokes come from a real experience," he once admitted.

After graduating from high school, Hart began working as a stand-up comedian, performing in a number of small comedy clubs under the moniker of Lil' Kev the Bastard. He was then taken under Keith Robinson's wings and was mentored by the veteran comedian. He won several amateur stand-up performances since and thus began regular performances in clubs around the country.

By the time his stand-up career improved, Hart was granted his own sitcom by ABC. Titled "The Big House" (2004), the series failed to garner attention and was canceled after only five episodes. He appeared in few other TV series afterwards and subsequently released his first stand-up album, "I'm a Little Grown Man", in 2006. Its follow up "Seriously Funny" was ousted in 2010 and proven to be bigger than the first one. In fact, it was his third stand-up album "Laugh at My Pain" (2011) that propelled him to fame. Due to its success, the set was then turned into a concert documentary, prompting him to tour around 90 cities. Not only the tour became one of the year's most success tours, but also turned Hart into a popular star.

On big screen, Hart had appearances in such films, as "Paper Soldiers" (2002), "Scary Movie 3" (2003), "Along Came Polly" (2004), "Scary Movie 4" (2006), "Superhero Movie" (2008), "Think Like a Man" (2012), and "Think Like a Man Too" (2014).

As of his personal life, Hart has two children with then wife Torrei Hart; daughter Heaven and son Hendrix. The couple had their divorce finalized in November 2011. By 2014, he was engaged to model Eniko Parrish.
