Puerto Rican band Calle 13 was established in 2004 by stepbrothers Ren� P�rez Joglar aka Residente as lead singer and songwriter, and Eduardo Jos� Cabra Mart�nez aka Visitante as multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and beat producer. They were joined by their half-sister Ileana Cabra Joglar aka PG-13 who serves as backing vocal. Unlike many other bands, the threesome is well known for using unconventional instrumentation in its music and for its satirical lyrics as well as social commentary about Latin American issues and culture.

Calle 13 scored their first record deal with White Lion Records after sending the label a demo tape. The release of their controversial song "Querido F.B.I." successfully earned them nationwide notoriety. In 2005 they gained wider popularity with the release of their eponymous debut album which spawned hit singles "Se Vale T�-T�" and "�Atr�vete-te-te!".Two years later the band ousted their sophomore record "Residente o Visitante" under Sony BMG, which won them a Grammy Award for Best Latin Urban Album and a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album.

Following the success of their two albums, Calle 13 wasted no time to release their third set "Los de Atr�s Vienen Conmigo" in 2008. It won them Album of the Year at the 2009 Latin Grammy Awards. In the same year, their song "�Atr�vete-te-te!" was featured as a track on the popular open world action-adventure video game "Grand Theft Auto IV". The band's fourth album "Entren Los Que Quieran", which hit the stores in November 2010, saw the siblings explored wider genres of music. By March 2014, they released their fifth studio album "Multi_Viral" via their new independent label El Abismo as they had parted ways with Sony Music.
