AceShowbiz - Sarah Drew is trading her doctor gown for a detective hat. The 43-year-old "Grey's Anatomy" alum has been cast to headline Hallmark's series titled "Mistletoe Murders", which she executive produces.

Based on the Audible global hit podcast of the same name, "Mistletoe Murders" will see the Dr. April Kepner depicter on "Grey's Anatomy" portraying a small-town Christmas-themed store owner named Emily Lane. Her character is described as smart, tough and observant, but also kind, empathetic and charming with a great - albeit dry - sense of humor.

The upcoming series will follow Emily as she finds herself compelled to investigate local murders with the help of a handsome local police detective and his teenage daughter. However, while Emily comes off as a perfectly lovely, good-natured mystery lover, she is hiding a secret past that, if exposed, threatens to destroy the new life she has built in Fletcher's Grove.

Ken Cuperus creates "Mistletoe Murders" in addition to serving as executive producer alongside Jocelyn Hamilton and Michelle Melanson. Award-winning director Grant Harvey, the mastermind behind Hallmark Channel's hit series "The Way Home", also joins the series.

In addition to "Grey's Anatomy", Sarah's credits include Freeform's popular series "Cruel Summer" as well as Apple TV+'s series "Amber Brown". She also starred in several movies, such as "Mom's Night Out" and "The Baxter", in which she appeared along with Elizabeth Banks and Paul Rudd. Drew additonally starred in the Hallmark film "Branching Out" as well as Sony Affirm’s "Birthright Outlaw".

Meanwhile, "Mistletoe Murders" isn't the first series which Sarah executive produced. Having worked behind the camera multiple times, the actress starred, wrote and executive produced Lifetime's "Reindeer Games Homecoming". She also wrote and produced "A Cowboy Christmas Romance" for last year's "It's a Wonderful Lifetime" holiday slate.

"Mistletoe Murders" premiere date has yet to be announced.
